Research areas: I am currently working on the measurement of strontium isotope ratio for two different applications: tracing the provenance of wood and food samples. Sr is a naturally occurring element with four stable isotopes, and variations in their relative abundance can provide valuable information about the geographic origin of samples. In food authenticity studies, Sr isotope ratios can be used to determine whether a particular food product originated from its claimed geographic location or if it has been adulterated with materials from other regions, while determination of the geographic origin of wood samples can be useful for investigating illegal logging or verifying the sustainability of wood products. |
