Roundtable on Sustainable Agriculture Held at Expano, Murska Sobota / 28.11.2024
On Tuesday, November 26, the Jožef Stefan Institute (IJS) organized a roundtable discussion at Expano in Murska Sobota, focusing on the development of Slovenian agriculture, sustainability, and local food production.
The event was moderated by Lea Udovč and featured a distinguished panel of speakers, including Mayor Marko Virag, Dr. Stanko Kapun, young farmers Doris Letina and Tomaž Cimerman, and researchers Prof. Dr. Marko Debeljak and Assistant Prof. Dr. Anton Gradišek. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Milena Horvat and Prof. Dr. Nives Ogrinc highlighted critical challenges related to chemical safety, technological advancements, and the importance of geographic origin in agriculture.
This roundtable was part of the exhibition Can Technology Save the World? and underscored themes such as digitalization, sustainable practices, and the circular economy. It provided a vibrant platform for dialogue among farmers, experts, and researchers, fostering intense networking opportunities.
The event successfully forged new partnerships and agreements aimed at implementing sustainable agricultural practices in local communities, marking a significant step towards more resilient and environmentally friendly farming in Slovenia.
