Launch of the Major Three-Year ARIS MultiPart Project on Health and Environment / 31.01.2025

Ljubljana, January 31, 2025 – The MultiPart project, a major three-year research initiative co-funded by ARIS, was officially launched on January 31 with its inaugural meeting. Led by the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI), the project brings together scientists, local communities, industry, and policymakers to address environmental and health challenges in the Lower Soča Valley, particularly in the vicinity of Salonit Anhovo.

The project will establish a participatory research platform, develop innovative air quality monitoring methods, conduct human biomonitoring, and assess health risks. Key partners include ZRC SAZU, Salonit Anhovo, UL-MF, IOS, Aerosol d.o.o., MEIS d.o.o., MPŠ, and the Institute for Health and Environment, alongside NGOs and local authorities.

“MultiPart represents a new research paradigm in Slovenia, as it actively involves communities in co-creating solutions,” said Prof. Dr. Milena Horvat, the project leader. Over the next three years, the project aims to restore trust, promote environmental justice, and provide scientifically backed recommendations for improving public health.
