International Women’s Day at the Department of Environmental Sciences / 7.03.2025
On March 7th, the Department of Environmental Sciences came together to celebrate early International Women’s Day in a truly special way.
In a wonderful gesture of appreciation, the male members of the department organized a delightful gathering for all colleagues, emphasizing the importance of gender equality and teamwork in both academic and professional life.
The celebration took place under the bright spring sunshine, adding a warm and cheerful atmosphere to the occasion. The highlight of the event was the real-time preparation of delicious tiramisu, skillfully crafted and served fresh by chef Žan Rekar and sous chef Jan Gačnik. The thoughtful effort behind this gathering reflected the strong sense of unity and mutual respect within the department.
A memorable moment of the event was the poetic tribute prepared by the Head of the Department and ChatGPT, read by one and only Janko Stanić. The lighthearted and witty verses, dedicated to some of the remarkable women in the department, sparked laughter and joy among all attendees.
This celebration was not just about indulgence in good food and drinks but also about reinforcing the values of equality, respect, and collaboration. The Department of Environmental Sciences remains committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all. Here’s to many more moments of unity and appreciation!

At O-2, we get things done,
without our women, it wouldn’t be fun!
From blood, soil, and samples so wild,
our lab adventures make science smile!
Milena explores what’s hiding inside,
but some results we’d rather let slide!
Nives checks food so it’s safe and sound,
if something’s off, she turns it around!
Doris makes sure things don’t explode,
if you spill something—she’s in control!
Sonja takes numbers and makes them neat,
when chaos strikes, she won’t be beat!
Tina and Karolina spread the cheer,
lifting us up when stress is near!
Janja calculates with precision and grace,
stats and models fall right into place!
Tin Kosjek explores the unknown,
making discoveries all on her own!
Darja and Marta shine at the top,
with results so great, they never stop!
And Barbara works like a tireless ant,
without her, the nuclear plant wouldn’t stand!
She keeps things running, strict and keen,
if something’s off—she keeps it clean!
But men, don’t worry, we see you too,
fixing computers, cables, and brew!
You bring us coffee, crack some jokes,
without you, the lab might lose some hope!
So let’s all cheer and raise a glass,
